Class and Status

Class
Class is divided into three categories these categories are formed by your social or econmic status. You can also be born into a class for example if you are born into a family that are all upper class then you will most likely continue there business or have a private education where you will move on to a upper class job.
Status
The postion of an individual in relation to others for example if there was a teacher and students in one room the teacher would have the high status and the students would be a low status. But if then the teacher had a meeting with there boss then the teacher would then change to low status.



The three categories of class are:

Upper class
Stereotypes of upper class are:
  • posh people
  • rich
  • businessmen/ women
  • high paid
  • Afternoon Tea
  • Theatre
  • Hunting
  • Polo
  • Ballet
  • Lawyers/ Baristers
  • Suits/ hollywood dresses
  • Mansions
  • Swimming pools
  • Land
  • Doctors/ Surgeons

Middle class
Stereotypes of Middle class:
  • Teachers
  • White collar
  • Police/Fireman
  • Nurses
  • Stable lifes
  • Have a family
  • Good Education
  • Can afford more than essentials
  • Dress smartly
  • Average sized houses.
Working Class
Stereotypes of Working Class
  • Blue collar jobs
  • Employed
  • Wages
  • Include unempolyed/ poor
  • Industrail/ manual labour
  • Builders/ Electritions
  • Lower tier
  • Basic house/flat
  • Sometimes can struggle with payments
  • Earns money to survive

The two categories of status are:

High status

  • More advanced
  • Demanding
  • Higher postion

  • Teachers

Low status
Sterotypes of Low status
  • Controlled
  • Lower postions
  • Students
