Technical Terms

Age-  The length of time a person is or has lived to.

Asynchronous- this is when the sound occurs from off the screen

Convention- What you would see that would identify to your audience that it is a particular genre/sub genre.

Continuity- A consistent flow of action in a scene,film or broadcast.

Diegetic-Diegetic- any sounds that naturally occur in the story.

Editing- The transition of the camera types and sound.

Ethnicity- State of belonging to a social group that has a common national or cultural tradition.

Gender- Refers to the socially constructed roles e.g. masculine and feminine.

Genre- A style or category of art, music, or literature

Mis-en-secen-The anaylse of the setting,decor,costume,makeup,lighting and a characters body language.

Narrative- The spoken or written story line.

Non-diegetic -sounds that are not naturally occurring in the story.

Propps-

Regional Identity- identifies where someone is from or a setting/location.

Representation- to describe someone or something in a category through appearence,body language and enviroment.

Shot types- The Angles and compostion of how a camera has captured a shot

 Sexuality- A persons sexual feelings/ preference

Stereotypes- A image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.

Sub Genre- Texts that come under a main genre

Synchronous-This is when the sound occurs from whats on the screen

Verisimilitude- The quality of appearing to be true or real.
